The Map

I have had these thoughts written out a while ago, but put them into Haiku form recently. I was trying to capture what accepting a pathway or calling can do and also what happens when it is rejected. I share it because it is what I feel has happened to me. What it feels like to be lost, finding my way back, overcoming obstacles, and realizing the beauty of life because I finally feel found.

The Map

Like a thief at night

There’s purpose in discomfort

Avoiding hunger

Of what meant to do

Judge me all you like but you

Have done the same too

There for a reason

Persistent ache never rests

Tormenting the mind

Above noise and doubt

It matters that you follow

Or feel pain, regret, sorrow

Can be hidden, stuffed

Smothered, squashed, lone agony

When lie believed

Forget, disregard

Seek for any distraction

Map there to stay

Purpose in knowing

To be lost, no direction

Despair takes over

Rules all energy

I can’t, not until, I’m bad

If you only knew

Can’t accept a call

Until you know you are lost

Tired of fighting

And Critics there

But Permission not needed

They are also lost

They may insult, point

Yet gives more courage to fight

Be free and alive

Only thing holding

You back from your dreams is you

Takes faith to believe

Journey is the point

One path ends another starts

Accept avenue

Joy, satisfaction

Graces down like soft sunshine

Witnessed if aware

Two ways to see life

All must take one path or other

Faith, fear, lay at door

What world you feed

Will determine where you go

Our choice to accept

Joy and peace remain

With each step towards goal taken

Feel rush to freedom

Light guides all the maps

To where we were meant to be

There is no other way

Fall down, get back up

Learn to walk by faith and light

Must follow set path

Might stumble but know

Falling is not forever

Unless believe it

So move by trying

No flying without falling

Bounce back, keep it lit

Getting back up is

All part of our journey here

Understand purpose

Can’t learn love without

Exposing heart to others

Letting light shine through

Know fear isn’t real

Look inside see that it’s true

Bold gallant warrior

Map inside won’t rest

Doesn’t matter fast or slow

Promise you will go

If nightmare ends

Exposure welcome open friend

Peace tranquility

No longer frantic

Pause reveals brilliant being

No longer alone

Can breathe Natures care

Precious, wonderful, awake

True self, receptive

What is placed in heart

The noble quest to find path

Hope for all who seek

There is more to you

Than meets the eye, own dauntless

Determination

Part of larger good

Something greater than yourself

Dreams not just for you

Stand up to dark force

Bring best of yourself to light

For the good of world
