A connection to essence
It’s great to have a vision board. Something you are working towards. But at the same time, there comes a time when the focus of the future can become overwhelming and the present needs to be appreciated. Asking questions such as “who am I right now in this moment?”, and “what is there about me that I can appreciate and receive?” are helpful for seeing clearly what is going right. That was the focus of my practice. With the encouragement of my life coach, he suggested the idea of creating a Hope Board. This is a board that connects me to my essence. It is a reminder to me of where I have been, all the good I create, and captures who I feel I am inside. My true self.
Some of my favorite things about this board…laughing with my daughter while we are camping connects me to fun. My daughter feeling the wind in her hair and pretending to skateboard in the back of the truck reminds me of freedom. The beauty of Gods creations in sunsets and flowers reminds me how he is in every detail great and small. Delicious meals I love to make remind me of how special I am and to take good care of my body. The wonderful time teaching at Farmington High school as a student teacher and how I love to teach. My own quotes that inspire me and remind me to keep going. Connections with my husband outside help me remember what is truly important and valuable. And in the center of it all is my Savior who loves me and keeps me safe, protected, close and so very loved. He reminds me to be me. That is the best person I can be.
Though I am evolving, essence is constant. There is nothing that can take away from it. There is nothing to make it enough. It just is…truly valuable and precious. You can’t create it. You can’t make it enough. It already is enough already inside.
This is what I have learned and why I created this board. I love to look at it in the mornings to reconnect to me and my true essence. There is no striving in essence. I get to be me. And that feels really special.
As I life coach I get to help people connect to their essence as well. I get to remind others who they truly are. Their wonder and light. Connection to self is an essential daily practice that guides the day and helps remove any barriers to our highest best selves. It is a practice that brings so much joy to me and those I get to serve.
