I feel like winter is a time of slowing down and recalibrating. It is a time to take in the small things of life and to notice what is happening around me. I love nature and to see the small and the big. The birds in the trees, the big expansive sky, and the animal tracks in the snow.

But then winter is also a time to look in and notice, where is my breath, and where do I hold it? Where do I notice tightness and fear? Where do I feel relaxed and loose? What emotions do I notice coming up and why are they there? And so I get curious.

Noticing is the first step in any transformation. It is a power that comes from deliberately slowing down and taking in each moment for appreciation and curiosity; to understand myself better and to see with new eyes the patterns and ways of being. And then as I notice, I can choose something new if I decide to and feel ready to make that change. But it starts with being a witness to myself and what is already there.

What can you be a witness of today? What do you notice?
